Dan testing requirements 3-10
 
3rd Dan
Those taking the Sandan test must be a member in good standing of the association for a minimum of two years and have the written endorsement of their dojo head instructor.
Sandan testing can be taken three years after obtaining Nidan

  	Kihon: Foundational techniques specified by examiner
  	Kata: Student’s favorite Kata
  	Kumite: Jiyu Kumite
  	*  Examiners test for understanding and proficiency in the standard techniques of karate.

4th Dan
Those taking the Yondan test must be a member in good standing of the association for a minimum of three years ,be recommended by their dojo head instructor and have the written endorsement of one of the four national technical directors.
Yodan testing can be taken four years after obtaining Sandan
Those seeking Yondan testing should make application to the 
Dan Examination Administrator one year in advance.
DAN EXAM ADINISTRATOR CONTACT

 for an understanding of the philosophy of karate; for an ability to apply these fundamentals and functional aspects in practice; and for an ability to instruct

5th Dan
Those taking the Godan test must be a member in good standing of the association for a minimum of three years ,be recommended by their dojo head instructor and have the written endorsement of one of the four national technical directors.
Godan testing can be taken five years after obtaining Yondan
Those seeking Godan testing should make application to the 
Dan Examination Administrator one year in advance.

Dan Examination Administrator one year in advance.

  	*  Must demonstrate extensive, matured mastery of both the physical and mental aspects of karate training

8th, 9th, 10th Dan
  	Recommendation of Instructors Committee
